Highlights for this week…
Traffic Congestion at Drop off and Pick up
Thank you to all the parents who arrive early and either park in a parking space or use the Kiss and Ride lane effectively to quickly drop off students in the morning and pick up in the afternoon. A huge thank you to the parents who live within walking distance and choose to walk, ride, or scooter the students to reduce traffic congestion in the parking lot. If you are walking your children to school, please use the city sidewalk in front of the school to reduce foot traffic at the main entrance and maintain safety in the Bus zone and Fire Lane at the front of the school. Parents cannot park in the Bus zone/Fire Lane. The By-law Safety Officer routinely monitors and tickets cars parked in the Bus Zone/Fire lane.
Health and Safety Reminders
As a reminder to all parents, please continue to follow the Public health protocols – only one parent per household at morning entrance and afternoon dismissal, maintain physical distancing of 2m or 6 feet, and wear a mask where/when it’s not possible to remain physically distance from others outside your household. Thank you for your compliance to keep students, staff and our community safe and healthy.
Dogs on School Property
With the exception of a Certified Service Animal, dogs are not permitted to be on the school property. Some students may be allergic or frightened by a dog or not practice appropriate handling and startle your pet. For the students’ safety and well-being and for the sake of your beloved pet, please keep your dog at home or with another adult waiting off school property. Thank you for understanding.
Return Borrowed Technology
Thank you to all the families who returned the technology that was borrowed during the last period of virtual learning. Please take a look for any cables/adaptors, heads sets, or mice that may still be at your home and return them to the school with your child.
The student agendas have arrived and will be distributed to the classes! Payment is $7 per agenda on SchoolCash Online. Please contact the office if you require financial assistance. All requests are handled discreetly.
School Council Nomination Form
Please consider putting forward your name or nominating another interested parent in the OLV community for the OLV Catholic School Council 2021-2022. The Nominations forms went out to the parent community by email on Thursday, September 16 in a Microsoft Forms format. The responses are due to the office by Friday, October 1, 2021. Nominations cannot be accepted after the deadline. All School Council meetings are virtual. Thank you for your consideration to serve the needs of all students and families in the OLV School community.
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for the many blessings that we have such as good health, family, friends, shelter, and food. We will continue the initiative with our Thanksgiving Food Drive. As a school community, we have decided to support those in need through the Food for Life Food Drive. Food for Life has grown into the largest food recovery program in Halton Region bringing fresh and nutritious food to those in need. This year we will be able to collect non-perishable canned/boxed food.
Let’s work together as a school community to provide families in need with food this Thanksgiving.
