Highlights for this week…

City TV “Athletes of the Week”

Thank you to Mrs. K. Barnes, Assistant Basketball Coach with Mr. Wong, who contacted Rick Campanelli of City TV News to share the story of OLV’s Basketball team. The OLV Basketball team will be featured on a news cast on City TV as the “Athletes of the Week” for their years of dedication and perseverance regardless of the numbers of wins on the court. Their mettle and team spirit is what makes athletics at OLV so inspiring for all students. Stayed tuned for the date for the airing of the segment in the next two to three weeks!

Stream of Dreams

Thank you to Mrs. Markobrada for her leadership in organizing the project “Stream of Dreams” to raise awareness of water conservation and protection of Ontario’s lakes and streams. The Kindergarten and Grade 1 students and staff painted wooden cut-outs of fish to adorn the Kindergarten fence near the south parking lot. Come and see the beautiful artwork and do your part to conserve water and protect God’s creation!

Every Wednesday morning, staff arrive early to cook a nutritious breakfast for 40 to 60 students who drop in to enjoy a healthy start to their day and spend quality time connecting with the staff outside of the classroom. Class Lists for 2019 – 2020

Are you moving over the summer? Do you have information to share that will help staff decide the best placement for your child(ren) in the next school year? As a staff, many factors go into the decisions to create a balanced set of class lists for the coming school year. Please advise Mrs. Osti or your child’s teacher if you know that you will be moving this summer. Please put in writing and address to the attention of Mrs. Morrissey any information about your child’s learning needs and/or concerns that would help staff make the best possible decision for class placements in 2019-2020 school year. While friendships are considered, these are not the deciding factor as friendships naturally evolve and change among children. Thank you for your partnership with the school and Parish to create a Catholic learning environment to benefit all children.

Welcome Back to Mrs. Laforet

Please extend a warm OLV welcome to Mrs. Laforet who will be the Acting Principal in the coming weeks.  Thank you for your kind words and prayers as I attend to medical needs in my family during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Laforet. Thank you for your understanding and compassion.
