“How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it.” – George Elliston

CRIMINAL REFERENCE CHECK & VULNERABLE SECTOR SCREENING
Our Lady of Victory Catholic School values and encourages parent involvement in our school. School trips, lunch days, or classroom assistance…we can always use your help! That being said, it is important to ensure the safety of our children, and therefore, all volunteers must have a valid Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening on file at the school. This initial copy must be dated within 6 months prior to the current date.
Fortunately, Police Record Checks are now available ONLINE. Residents of Halton Region, aged 21 and older can apply for Police Information Checks and Police Vulnerable Sector Checks for employment and volunteer purposes online 24 hours a day, seven days a week without having to attend one of our police locations. Please see the document below for further details.
To avoid the rush in September, we strongly encourage families to consider completing their Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening checks during the summer months.

Feeling Good about the Inside and Out
With messages from media that put pressure on young girls to be thin and on boys to be strong and muscular, there can be a lot of questions from parents and children as to what is a healthy body.
Children of all ages, shapes, and sizes need parental support and positive role modeling to help them make healthy lifestyle choices. Tips to help your children eat healthy, be active and feel good about themselves: * Use Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide for shopping and meal planning.
* Help children recognize their hunger cues: eat when hungry and stop when full.
* Encourage children to be active every day. Health Canada recommends 90 minutes of physical activity per day for children.
* Try to be active as a family. Choose structured and unstructured activities that are fun.
* Recognize that healthy bodies come in a variety of weights, shapes and sizes.
* Let your child know that gaining weight is part of growing, especially during puberty.
* Be aware of your own attitudes about food, weight and exercise. Be a good role model, your children are watching! – Healthy Schools Halton
