Weekly Update for October 26

Virtual Open House Wednesday

  • While we weren’t able to have our Corn Roast to start our year, we will still come together as a school community with our first Virtual Open House on Wednesday, October 28 at 6:00 pm! Join our community in prayer and view a presentation about some of the changes inside and outside of the school building this year, then meet your children’s educators and view individual presentations to find out more about what the learning in your child’s classroom will look like. This is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions, and to share your hopes for your children this year.
  • If you have questions you would like to ask before the evening so that we can address them in our presentations, you can ask them via the link here until Tuesday, October 27 at 9 am: OLP Open House Questions
  • The introductory session will be conducted through Teams, and the link will be shared through email at 5:30 pm on Wednesday. Educators will provide more information about how to access their presentations on their digital platforms.
  • We are looking forward to seeing you then!

Celebrating Halloween at OLP on Friday

  • Our priority for Halloween this year is to keep everyone safe by following our new protocols and routines, but we do want to give our students a chance to have some fun and enjoy themselves. While we will not be holding our Danceathon, on Friday, October 30, students will be allowed to wear Halloween costumes to school.
  • Classrooms will hold their own celebrations appropriate to the students’ ages and interests, and educators will share more information about that with students as we draw closer to Halloween.
  • For more information about choosing appropriate costumes, bringing in non-edible treats, and advice from Halton Public Health about trick or treating in Halton, please see our school website here: https://elem.hcdsb.org/ourladyofpeace/2020/10/halloween-update/

Halton Public Health Updated Return to School Protocols

  • Halton Public Health continues to update their return to school protocols. To see the latest version of their guidelines for schools, please see their website here: Halton Region COVID-19 Reopening Schools
  • They have also updated their Return to School and Child Care Protocol for Individuals for COVID-19 Symptoms, and you can review that information in the flow chart attached below.
  • The school board will continue to communicate regularly with public health and we will update you as we receive new information.

Dropping Off Items at School

  • We appreciate your patience with our new routines and procedures. Please remember that students should come to school with the items that they need for the day as we should be limiting our daily contacts with visitors.
