Weekly Update for May 18

Victoria Day – Holiday Monday

  • Students and educators will not be expected to engage in distance-led teacher learning on Monday. Educators will adjust the assignments accordingly to take the shortened week into account.
  • We hope that you and your family enjoy a safe and relaxing long weekend!

Literacy and Numeracy Summer Programs for Students in Grades 6, 7, and 8

  • The Halton Catholic District School Board’s Thomas Merton Centre for Continuing Education is pleased to be offering Literacy and Math Summer Programs for Grades 6, 7, and 8 students from July 6 – July 17, 2020 (Session 1) and July 20 – July 31, 2020 (Session 2). 
  • Please note that due to the current COVID-19 situation, the health and well-being of our students continues to remain our highest priority. All Session 1 and Session 2 classes will be offered in a distance (e-learning) format this summer.

  • Online registration is available for Session 1 and 2. You may register your child for one or both sessions by filling out the following online form: Summer Distance Learning
  • The completed online form to register your child is due by Friday, June 26, 2020

Oakville Public Library Resources and Programs

  • The Oakville Public Library has many free online resources available with an Oakville Library card that you and your family can access from home. The attached guides highlight programs, services, reading lists, and electronic resources geared toward elementary school students. In addition, library staff are available to assist families to register for cards if required.
  • As you would when selecting resources from the public library if the buildings were open, we recommend that you consider the choices carefully to ensure that they are appropriate for your child and his or her interests and needs at this time.

Update on Refunds – Complete

  • We are pleased to say that all refunds from any canceled trips or lunch programs that were paid through SchoolCashOnline should now be complete, and you should have received notification of your refund. If you have not, please contact Mrs. Lupton at luptonn@hcdsb.org. If you paid through cash or cheque, we will issue a reimbursement once our school re-opens.
  • Please note that Lunchbox Orders will be working directly with parents through their cancellation process. If you have questions, they can be reached at 1.877.426.6860

  • Ongoing news coverage about COVID-19 may be upsetting for many children, youth and families in our community. Our HCDSB Mental Health Leadership Team has compiled a list of tips and resources to help you and your child feel safe during this time of uncertainty.
