Weekly Update for May 11

Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for all of the notes, photos, videos, Tweets, and messages you shared with the staff for our HCDSB Staff Appreciation Day today. There were smiles – and a few tears! – when people saw what had been posted and shared. You truly made them feel appreciated, and they can’t wait for the day when they can tell you that in person.

Catholic Education Week Liturgy

  • As part of our celebration of Catholic Education Week, the staff wanted to share their liturgy with you. You can access it through the link here, and we hope you recognize the voices (and the piano!). You might like to use it to pray together as a family to mark the end of Catholic Education Week. Thank you to Mrs. De Guzman for organizing the liturgy.

Special Mass for our Grade 2 Students

  • On Saturday, May 9, at 11:00 a.m, Mary Mother of God Church will be live-streaming a special mass for all of our Grade 2 students who are waiting to receive their First Holy Communion. We would like to thank Father Isaac for including our students in this special Mass. You can access the Mass on Mary Mother of God’s website here:
  • Father Jerzy has also posted a message for the Grade 2s on his blog:

Happy Mother’s Day!

  • We wish all mothers and grandmothers, and those who are acting as mothers and grandmothers, in our school community a very Happy Mother’s Day this Sunday!

Update on OLP Clubs

  • We were so excited to see students participating in our virtual clubs this week! Seeing their smiling faces raised our spirits, and we hope that the clubs helped them feel connected to the school and to one another.
  • Remember that children can choose to try one or all of the activities in a given week, and, with your help, they may share to our school Twitter feed @OLPhcdsb here: You can use the hashtags #FunClubsHCDSB and #TogetherApartHCDSB to connect with others.
  • No Twitter account? No problem! You can share your results with Mrs. Belobradic or Mrs. Baxter by emailing them at or They will share them through their Twitter feeds. Mrs. Dore-Anderson may even post a selection to the school website! (Please note that anything you share through email may be posted to the school Twitter account and website as well.)
  • If you don’t want your children to share online, that’s OK too. You can still have fun by trying the activities as a family!

Update on Refunds – Complete

  • We pleased to say that all refunds from any canceled trips or lunch programs that were paid through SchoolCashOnline should now be complete, and you should have received notification of your refund. If you have not, please contact Mrs. Lupton at If you paid through cash or cheque, we will issue a reimbursement once our school re-opens.
