Weekly Update: December 14-18

“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again, I say, Rejoice.”
Philipians 4:4

As we begin the third week of Advent, the third Sunday is called Gaudete (Rejoice) Sunday.  On this day we celebrate that our wait for the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day is almost over.  Rose is a liturgical colour that is used to signify joy, so we light the single pink candle.  Take a moment to reflect on what you are grateful for.  We look forward to another great week at OLF.

Toy Drive

We thank everyone that was able to donate to our Toy Drive.  We were able to support many families in our Milton Community. The remaining toys will be dropped off this week in support of “Miracle on Main”.  Thank you again for your generous donations to our Toy Drive.

Reminder – Food Coming into the building

Just a reminder to all our families that items for sharing and eating cannot be brought into the school.  This includes any fast-food lunch items.  We want to ensure that we keep our staff and students safe by minimizing any items coming into the school.  We thank you for your support in keeping our students safe.

Early Dismissal

Reminder that on the last day of school, Friday, December 18th, we will have an early dismissal at 1:20 pm.  If you are picking up your child, please be at the school for this time.

Parking Lot – Kiss N Ride

With the colder weather, we are noticing many more students being driven to school.  We would like to remind you to use our designated Kiss N Ride lanes on either side of the school.  When using our Kiss N Ride lanes please remember to pull up as far forward as you can to alleviate congestion on the bend.  Also, please allow your child to exit the car on the passenger side of the car for their safety and avoiding opening their car door in traffic.  The assistance from all our families in this, is greatly appreciated.

Advent Liturgy – December 10

Thank you to our Grade 2 students and teachers and of course Father Jim for leading our Advent Liturgy this past week.  You did an amazing job!  Remember, as Father Jim mentioned, that when we give Baby Jesus his birthday gift, the one thing he wants is for all of us to be nice to one another.  Help give Jesus his gift.

Daily Screening

Thank you to all parents/guardians for performing daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms before leaving for school.  We appreciate you helping our school in preventing the spread of COVID-19.  Please note: This screening tool has been updated once again as of October 1st, as the Ministry of Health determine various changes in symptoms of COVID-19
