Weekly Update: November 23-27
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “Behold, I send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way; the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.’” – Mark 1:1-3
It was another great week at OLF as we celebrated Peace Week as an OLF Community. We look forward to a great week this week as we prepare for many events at the school in the next few weeks.
On Saturday, November 28 from 9-11 am, we will be holding our Food Drive to support our local community. We will be accepting non-perishable food items as well as gift cards for grocery stores. We will be offering a reverse curbside pickup. You drive up to the front of the school, pop your trunk and one of our volunteers will accept your donations. We thank you in advance for your generosity during this Advent season for families in need.
Also beginning on November 28th and running until December 11th, we will be holding a toy drive. This will also support our local families in Milton as well as our Indigenous brothers and sisters in Northern Ontario through the charity of True North Aid. You can drop off toys on Saturday morning but can also drop off toys in our bin each morning and after school. There will be a bin set up outside the front doors for donations. We will also accept monetary donations through school cash online. We thank you in advance for your generosity during this Advent season for families in need.

COVID – Use of Lockers
School Staff, along with our Parent representatives of our Re-opening committee are working hard on a plan for use of lockers in the school. Through guidance of HCDSB Re-opening Plan, we are working on a plan to ensure the safety of all staff and students while using lockers. We will have this plan out to the OLF Community through email in the next few days. We appreciate your patience as we work diligently in preparing this plan.
Peace Week and Bullying Prevention Week
Last week, our classes participated in a variety of activities relating to Bullying Prevention and the negative effects of being a bystander. The week culminated with an assembly led by our Grade 7 students in Mr. Donald’s class encouraging all our students to join the Peacemakers Club. We thank all our staff for all the activities and awareness that they presented to their students this week. Together, we can make a difference and end bullying.
Virtual Scholastic Book Fair
Mark your calendars! The fun and excitement of a Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! To adapt to our changing needs, Scholastic has developed a Virtual Book Fair to provide an opportunity for our students and families to experience the joy of reading together. Our Scholastic Virtual Book Fair will take place from November 23 to December 1. On November 25th, from 6-8 PM we will also have an OLF Family Shopping Night where shipping on all items will be FREE!
What a great opportunity to purchase some amazing Christmas gifts, while also promoting literacy and helping our school library!
Progress Report Cards
On Tuesday, November 24th, Progress Reports will be emailed electronically to you. For accessing the report card you will require your child OEN number which can be found on previous report cards. Please check your clutter or junk mail files if you do not see the report card in your inbox.
Thank you to all parents/guardians for performing daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms before leaving for school. We appreciate you helping our school in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
