Weekly Update: March 2-6
Thank you for another great week at OLF. We look forward to another great week at OLF.
During Lent we offer up our prayer: Lord, we pray that you will stir up in us a hunger to follow you and to live on your every word. May we recognize in you the sure path to avoid the pitfalls of temptation and sin and so gain everlasting glory with you. We ask this through the power of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of our Blessed Mother, Mary. Amen.
Teacher Job Action
As you have already heard, the group representing our teachers have planned a provincial one-day strike on Thursday, March 5th. Therefore, classes will be cancelled to students on this day.
As was mentioned at our Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectation assembly last week, we will begin our Lenten Initiative. Our grade 4 classes are asking for us to support Team Nobody’s. Team Nobody’s is an organization which supports the homeless with necessary items. This year we will focus on socks. Therefore, we are asking for donations of new socks. There will be a box in the front foyer for the socks. We will collect socks until April 8th. Thank you in advance for supporting this worthy initiative.
We have some leftover boxes of Cookies from our Australian wildfire initiative. We will be selling the cookies we have left on Monday, March 2nd. Please bring in your toonie for a cookie.
Pink Shirt Day Update
Last Friday we celebrated Pink Shirt Day with all the T-shirts purchased. This was in support of Anti-Bullying and being kind. With our T-shirts sales we were able to donate $771.00 to Bullying Canada. To see what types of supports Bullying Canada provides, please click on the link: https://www.bullyingcanada.ca/. Thank you again for your support.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
With anticipation of the OECTA strike on Thursday, March 5, Lunchbox Orders will be managing the scheduled lunch deliveries on a day by day basis.
If classes are cancelled on Thursday, Lunchbox Orders will cancel the order and a credit will be placed on your Lunchbox Orders account. The credit will be applied to your next transaction at the time of check out.
If you have any questions, please contact the Lunchbox Orders Team at 1.877.426.6860 or by email at email@example.com.
Bus Loading Zone
Please note that the driveway in front of the school is designated for buses and emergency vehicles. Any parents picking up or dropping off their child should use the parking lots on the West and East sides of the school, or the parking on the street in front of the school. Please refrain from using the Bus Loading Zone for picking up and dropping off.
School Start Time
Students continue to arrive late to school. We are an 8:20 am start time. It is very important for the students to arrive to school on time to build those habits and routines that are very important in the morning. Arriving late disrupts that routine. Please see the attachment for some guidelines and tips.
Please see the attached Parish Bulletin for information.
Wishing you a wonderful week – the Staff of Our Lady of Fatima CES
