Weekly Update: January 27-31

We had a very busy but great week this past week. We look forward to another great week at OLF.

Pink Shirt Sales

Beginning on Tuesday, January 28th, and to align with our Safe Schools Plan and promote Diversity and Inclusion, our Pink T-shirt sales will be a visual reminder to all staff and students that “Bullying is not OK!” OLF will continue to take a stand on Bullying.

Here is some important information for you.

January 28th – February 13th – T-shirts will be sold during this time via school cash online (Sizing, Shirt Design and payment)

February 24th – T-shirts will be delivered to the school for distribution

February 28th – Pink Shirt Day at OLF! Wear your brand new Pink T-shirt

Students will have the opportunity to see samples of the shirts and the different designs at our Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations Assembly on Wednesday morning.

All purchases will be made via School Cash Online using the following steps;

  1. Log in to School Cash Online and Choose the Tab for Pink Shirt Day
  2. Choose the size of Shirt you require (price of the shirt is indicated)
  3. Choose the design of the shirt you require – once complete, add the shirt to your cart
  4. Once you have added the shirt to your cart, if you would like to purchase another shirt or shirts, please click SELECT MORE ITEMS

A portion of all T-shirt sales will go toward “Bullying Canada” https://www.bullyingcanada.ca/ which is an Anti-Bullying Organization.

Initiative for Australia

We are very grateful for the overwhelming response of Cookie purchases. We continue to sell cookies with proceeds going to WIRES. We will sell cookies daily after first recess. We thank you again and appreciate your support in helping those affected by the fires in Australia.

Bell Let’s Talk Day

Wednesday, January 28th is Bell Lets Talk Day. On this day Bell will donate 5 cents toward Mental Health Support for every tweet, call, social media post. Lets all help to do our part in supporting those in need. Our Wellness Group at school will be leading a variety of activities in support of Bell Lets Talk Day.

Aussie X – Dance

We thank everyone who came out to our Community Night last Thursday in the school gym. There were definitely a lot of very good dancers in our gym that night. We hope you enjoyed the dancing but also learned a little bit about Diversity and Inclusion. Our final day of X-Dance will take place on Monday, January 27th.

PD Day

On Friday, January 31st, we will have a Professional Development Day for teachers. No school for students on this day.

Yearbook Update

We do have some extra yearbooks from the 2018-2019 school year for purchase. If you are interested in purchasing a yearbook, please send in $20 per yearbook with your child. Due to our limited number of extras, yearbooks will be purchased on a first come, first serve basis until they are gone. Thank you.

Parking Lot

If anyone in our school community notices any by-law infraction taking place in either parking lot during pick-up and/or drop-off times, please use the MyMilton app to report the incident.

Immunization Updates

Please ensure that all Student Immunization Shots are up to date, failure to do so could result in suspension from school. If you have any questions, feel free to visit halton.ca/immunize or call 311.
