According to the “School Councils” regulation under the Education Act, every school must hold elections for the School Council within the first 30 days of each school year. The term of office is one year. We want to encourage every parent to consider volunteering to sit on the Catholic School Council this year. The school needs active and interested parents to maintain the quality of the school community we enjoy and to address the challenges the community will face in the future.
Nomination forms have been attached and are also available at the front office. OLF – School Council Nomination Form
Should we receive more than 12 nominations, we will hold an election on Tuesday September 24, 2019. Candidates will be asked to complete a one-page information biography sheet and it will be posted on the School Community Bulletin Board located in the front entrance of the school.
If we receive 12 nominations or less, and all candidates fulfill the requirements as outlined in the regulation, they will be acclaimed, and the school community will be informed of the membership.
If required, the elections for our 2019/2020 Catholic School Council will take place in September according to the following timelines:
- Nomination Forms Due: Friday, September 13th by 4:00pm to the main office
- Profiles Due (if required): Tuesday, September 17th
- Council Elections (if needed): Tuesday, September 24th
- First Council Meeting: Monday, October 7th at 6:30 pm in the library
We look forward to working closely with the new Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School Council, and to a supportive team of individuals dedicated to children and the preservation of Catholic Education in the 2019-2020 school year!
