Weekly Update: May 20-24
Hello OLF Families,
We hope you enjoyed your long weekend and the nice weather that came along with it. Please see below some of the updates for this week.
We have had an increasing number of lates the past couple of weeks. An occasional late has little effect, but consistent lateness has a negative impact on learning. We ask that in partnership with home and school we ensure that students are arriving to school on time to avoid disrupted routines and to increase student achievement and responsibility. We remind you that our entry bell rings at 8:20 am and announcements begin just after 8:25 am. We appreciate your support in this.
ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) Bonanza
On Monday, June 3rd, Our Lady of Fatima will be welcoming our Board’s Behaviour Analysts, Special Education Itinerant Team, Speech Language Pathologists, CDAs and CYCs as they will be setting up an ABA Bonanza to highlight and celebrate all of the amazing work being done across the system by educators using ABA methodology for any and all students who benefit from it! The ABA Bonanza will be held all day on June 3rd in our library.
Vacation Bible School
“Save the Date” for Vacation Bible School from August 12th-16th for any students entering JK to Grade 8. Please see the attached memo for more information. If interested, please contact Kim Curley at firstname.lastname@example.org
This week our Grade 6 classes will be writing the EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) assessment. This is an assessment of Reading, Writing and Mathematics. These assessments provide opportunities for the students to demonstrate their achievement in these areas as outlined in The Ontario Curriculum. We appreciate your assistance in ensuring that students arrive to school on time and in scheduling any appointments around these EQAO days.
