Welcome to September and the start of another wonderful school year at Our Lady of Fatima. As you can imagine staff have been busy preparing the school and their classrooms to welcome students on Tuesday morning. There are many information items that need to be addressed so that we can make the first day, and the whole year, a success for all.
Please be advised that effective Friday, August 31, after 9:00 a.m., you will be able to access information about your child’s class placement. This information will be available on the Board’s website at: hcdsb.org. Please click on “Elementary Class Placements” from the homepage, which will direct you to the school listing page. Once you have arrived on this page, please click on the name of your child’s school, and follow the link in the top right hand corner to “Class Placements”.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to access this information, you will require your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN), which can be found on his/her report card.
First day procedures for Grades 1-8: Staff will begin receiving students at 8:05a.m. on Tuesday September 4. For the first day:
- Grade 1 students will gather on the stage to meet their teachers.
- Grade 2 – 6 classes will meet their teachers in the gym. Parents please drop your child off at the school doors.
- Grade 7 and 8 students will meet their teachers in their classrooms.
End of Day Dismissal: Students in Grades 1-3 are dismissed by their teacher on the back pavement. Parents are asked to please remain behind the pylons so that students and teachers can see who they are dismissing to. Students from Grade 4-8 are dismissed directly by their teacher.
Parking Reminder: As another school year begins, we ask that all parents and guardians follow our parking lot expectations to keep staff, students and parents safe. Please use the kiss and ride for quick drop offs only and use the parking spaces when walking children to their gates. Please ensure you do not block our handicap spaces as we have several parents who need to access these spaces.
Epi-Pens – Medication and Medical Perils Forms – Medical perils packages went home the last week of June with students. We ask families to return the completed forms and updated medication in a clear Ziploc bag that is clearly labeled with your child’s name to our main office.
We look forward to seeing on Tuesday September 4th.
