Weekly Update #16

When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go, then, to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” So, they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. Luke 2:15-16

With the fourth Sunday of Advent upon us, we look to LOVE.  The fourth candle helps us to remember that God is love and that he loved the world so much that Jesus came.  The angel tells Joseph that the baby born will be called “Emmanuel”, “God with us”. Because God loves us and came into the world to be with us we must love and care for others.

On behalf of the staff of Lumen Christi School, a heartfelt thank you for all of the wonderful Christmas gifts that have been shared with us.  May the Peace, Joy and Love of Christmas fill your heart and home throughout this festive season. Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and restful break.

We will see you back in the New Year on Monday, January 3rd, 2022.

Rapid Antigen Test Kits for In-Person Learners

This week, your brought home a Rapid Antigen Screening Kit for voluntary use over the Christmas holiday.

The rapid antigen screening kits have been provided by the Government of Ontario for every student who attends in-person learning at a publicly funded school.  These kits may be used by any student, regardless of their vaccination status, however, should only be used when a child is asymptomatic (does not have any symptoms of COVID-19) and has not had any exposure to a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Please note, your child’s participation in this rapid antigen screening is voluntary and is not a required action for return to school after the Christmas break.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work closely with the Ministry of Education and Halton Public Health to help keep our community safe and healthy for all.

Confirmation of Daily Covid-19 Student Screening Log

Parents/guardians/students must complete the Ontario School Screening Tool each morning prior to or upon arrival for each student.  Confirmation of the daily screening must be provided to the classroom teacher upon entry into the school. A salmon or pink hard copy has gone home with students this week. Attached is also a digital copy.

International Travel:

Families who travel during the Christmas Break must follow federal testing and quarantine requirements upon their return. Please be reminded that although unvaccinated children under the age of 12 who travel internationally with a fully vaccinated adult are exempt from federal quarantine, they are not permitted to attend school or child care for 14 days following their return.
