  • Moving? If you are moving and will not be at Lumen Christi CES next year please notify Mrs. MacDonald ( as this is important information in our school and class placement planning for next year.
  • Class Placement: The planning process that will result in the school / class organization for the 2021-2022 school year is currently underway. Part of this planning process involves teachers organizing student class placements.  As you can appreciate, many hours of consultation and meetings go into the class building process to ensure the appropriate placement of all students.  In building classes we use the following criteria:
    • Heterogeneous groupings—a balance of abilities in each class.
    • A balance according to gender.
    • Best matching the students’ learning style with the teacher’s teaching style.
    • If a child was in a combined class this year, we will do our best to try to place that child in a straight grade class. However, this is not always possible.
    • Social blending – who works well with whom

Please note that parental input is important to us and is weighed with the above mentioned criteria. Specific teacher requests cannot be considered.  Rather, if necessary, parental input, in the form of an email to the Principal, Mr. J. Jurus ( should focus on the learning style of the student and the type of environment the student best learns in.  Emails must be submitted to Mr. Jurus no later than Monday, May 3, 2021.

Please remember that many discussions go into developing classes that maximize opportunities for each child to learn and be successful. Your ongoing trust and support in our professional judgment is appreciated.
