Managing interruptions during your work day - YouTube

Daily Interruptions during Instructional Times: We understand that students and families have appointments that may occur during the instructional day; however, students’ attendance is crucial for their academic and social emotional stability. We are currently experiencing a higher volume than usual with families pulling students at different times during the instructional day, this causes a great deal of disruption as we are interrupting classes during their instructional time. Please be conscious of this as you are planning your child’s appointments. Another option is to write a note to your child’s educator and then the child may be dismissed in advance and without interruption. This helps all the students within the class in addition to ensuring that our amazing office staff is able to attend to all the phone calls. ALL educators are aware of the need to check agendas daily for notes. THANK YOU!

HRM Amazing Fundraising Fundraiser: Due to limited variety and stock available, we have decided to cancel this initiative for our school. We are looking to the possibility of having something similar in the new year.

COVID-19 Safety Measures: For the safety and well-being of all students and staff, parents and guardians must perform daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE leaving for school using the COVID-19 Self-Assessment.

The Government of Ontario daily self-screening tool can be accessed here: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/

Coming Soon ~ Student Census 2022: In February 2022, HCDSB will be collecting identity-based student data through a board-wide Student Census. This census will help our school board better understand and support our students and their experiences in school and will help promote equitable and inclusive learning environments. NOTE: Parents of students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 will be invited to complete the online survey on behalf of their child. For more information about the Student Census, please visit the HCDSB website: https://hcdsb.info/StudentCensus2022

Dressing for Winter Weather: With the arrival of winter like weather, we kindly request that parents ensure your child is dressed each day to play outside at recess. Students are able to be outside for all regular outside activities when it is warmer than -15 C. When temperatures range between -15C to -20C, students may remain outside for no longer than 20-minute intervals, once temperatures are colder than -20C students must remain inside ~thank you for your support with this!

Take and Make: Prehistoric Amber Activity
When: Saturday November 13th
Where: Milton Public Library, Sherwood Branch, 6355 Main St. W.
This activity kit provides each child with their own piece of REAL Colombian amber to polish and take home.  The amber comes in its natural state (dull and “crusted”) and we provide the simple tools to remove the crusty shell and polish the piece into a smooth, lightweight golden gem (please note: you will need to provide your own toothbrush and toothpaste for this activity). If you polish a piece really well and look closely, some even contain an insect! What a great way to celebrate Dinovember! And don’t forget to check out some Dinosaur books from the library when you pick up your kit! Pick up a Prehistoric Amber Fossil Activity Kit and polish some history of your very own. These kits will be available on a first come, first served basis. One kit per family. Limited number of kits available.
