Halloween Events & Dance-a-Thon: We are very excited about our HRM Halloween Theme Days starting on Monday October 25. We are also excited about some of our overall prizes, remember Mrs. Owens has challenged the school to collect $11, 000 net to shave her head as the first prize, the class with the highest pledges will be in the gym for that event. The second prize is for the class with the second most collected donations where a student or the classroom teacher will throw a pie in Ms. Murad’s face. And the third prize is for the class with the third highest donations, their prize is an afternoon highlighted by a movie and snacks. Go Hawks GO!

When planning your child’s costume, please keep the following in mind:

  • Is my costume making fun of a group of people, their culture, or religion?
  • Does my costume reinforce jokes and stereotypes about certain groups, cultures, or religions?
  • Am I altering my skin color, facial/body features to make it darker or like a particular race, ethnicity, or cultural group?
  • Am I dressing up as a culture or borrowing from a religion that is not my own or is not part of my background?
  • Do I understand and respect the history or tradition of the culture that I am borrowing my costume from?
  • Does my costume have a mask or an item that can be perceived as a weapon?

Please ensure that all costumes contribute to ensuring that HRM remains the safe and inclusive school community that we are.

HRM Milk and Lunch Programs: This year we are excited to partner with LunchBox. This amazing program will allow parents to directly plan and book their child’s lunches and milk. All food will be personalized, for example, on Pizza days, students will receive their individualized pizza slice(s) in its own individualized box and the same goes for sub days with Subway. This is following the Board’s protocol regarding COVID-19 and to ensure the health and safety of all. Big thanks to our amazing HRM Catholic School Council for their support. More information will be provided as we plan to start our lunch Program during the week of November 8 in addition to our Milk Program during the week of November 15.
