Weekly Update – January 17-21 2022

Greetings Holy Rosary Families!

We are so excited to have everyone back as we begin in-person learning on Monday! Thank you to our students for your efforts, positivity and dedication during the remote learning period.  A special thank you is extended to our parents, staff, parish and community partners for making this work – and for all the support along the way.  Let’s keep working together to ensure that our learners are safe and healthy as they return to school.

**Mandatory COVID Screening Requirements – Action Required**

Thank you to our parents for ensuring that you will take the time before each and every school day to complete your child(ren)’s Daily Covid Screening and confirming the screening results in your child(ren)’s agenda(s) starting on Monday January 17, 2022.

A Covid-19 Screening Tracking sheet was sent home earlier today via School Messenger to facilitate the reporting of screening results. You can access the Daily Covid Screening tracking form on the last page of this weekly update.

This screening and reporting must be completed daily by a parent until further notice. Please note this is a directive from the Ontario Ministry of Education and Ontario Ministry of Health.

The Government of Ontario daily self-screening tool can be accessed here:

Each student will be receiving a Rapid Kit comprised of 2 Antigen rapid tests and a mask as early as Monday.

HCDSB will be sharing updated information this weekend, please check your email or the HCDSB website for this correspondence. Thank you.

Loaned School Devices & Technology

We appreciate that students who required devices/technology during the remote period had use of school devices and have taken special care of the equipment. Please know that this equipment is necessary in supporting all our students during in-person learning. We would like to ensure that our students will have access to this equipment upon their return on Monday.

All equipment can be returned to the school on Monday. Please return the devices as you received them – barcoded laptop, charger and box (in some cases). Thank you for your attention and support.

Pizza Days

We look forward to starting Pizza Days again next week.  Our next scheduled Pizza day is Tuesday, January, 18, 2022. We continue to work with our pizza provider and staff to ensure COVID safety measures are in place for pizza distribution.  The missed Pizza Days will be rescheduled for February.

Student Census 2022 – Coming Soon!

In February 2022, HCDSB will be collecting identity-based student data through a board-wide Student Census. This census will help our school board better understand and support our students and their experiences in school and will help promote equitable and inclusive learning environments.

NOTE: Parents of students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 will be invited to complete the online survey on behalf of their child. For more information about the Student Census, please visit the HCDSB website:

Winter Weather – Dress for Outdoor Play

Students will be outside for all regular outdoor activities when it is warmer than -15°C. When temperatures range between -15°C to -20°C, students may remain outside for no longer than 20-minute intervals, once temperatures are colder than -20°C students must remain inside.  We remind students to dress for our beautiful Canadian winters.

A Family Prayer

In the days ahead we pray for safety and strength. While these are challenging times – we look to God for peace, wisdom and hope.  We are blessed to have our faith.

Dear God,

Bless our family who asks for your grace.

May your Spirit guide our words and deeds

and lead us to always give You praise.

Let our home be filled with love, faith

and hope for a bright future.

We pray that we will live happily in good health,

mutual respect, and endless peace.  Amen.

We wish you a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing our students in-person on Monday!
