Weekly Update – December 17 2021

Greetings Holy Rosary Families-

The Christmas Holidays are here!  This last week together was a busy one with the Assumption Band performing for the Junior and Intermediate classes, a Christmas Colours/PJ Spirit Day, the Faithful Fury’s candy cane sales and festive classroom activities. We thank Mrs. Quinney’s Grade 1 class and Mr. McKay’s Grade 4 class for our Advent liturgies this week, we thank Mrs. Sparks and the Grade 4 Christmas Crew for their great Advent announcements helping us prepare for Jesus’ birth. We also thank our students for the beautiful Christmas cards/ornaments for our Senior friends and we thank our Safe Schools Team for their Light it Up initiative. We thank you, our very generous school community, and Millcroft Financial for supporting our Tree of Hope initiative too. As the week comes to an end – we are truly looking forward to celebrating this season of hope with our families. We wish students, staff and all our families a safe, joyous and blessed Christmas.

The Fourth Week of Advent

In this Fourth Week of Advent, we meditate on the peace that Jesus brings in our hearts and world. As we light the fourth candle we ask Christ to forgive us for our sins and, through His grace, to create us anew when He comes. When we look at the fourth candle, we remember God’s promise of peace. We recall the words of Jesus in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” As we approach Christmas, let’s remember that God’s intention is a place of peace.  For Advent/Christmas prayers, family crafts and resources visit:

Student/Family Safety during the Holidays

As shared in Director Daly recent email, here are a few important reminders:

  • As indicated in the email you received on November 18, 2021, for the first two weeks of school following the break (January 3 – 14, 2022), all Kindergarten to Grade 12 students will be required to show daily confirmation of successful completion of the COVID-19 school screening tool. Please complete the daily screening log sent home on December 16, 2021.
  • The Ministry of Education has provided Rapid Antigen Testing Kits for all students learning in-person. Participation in this testing is voluntary and not required for return to school. Additional information, including instructions were sent home on Dec. 16th.
  • Families travelling outside of Canada over the Christmas break are reminded to monitor updates to federal travel directives and mandatory isolation periods for students. Please refer to the Government of Canada’s instructions for travellers from outside Canada for more information.
  • You are encouraged to continue to monitor your emails, as in the event we need to communicate any information regarding the return to school, we will share this information through email, as well as on our school/board websites and through social media.

As a staff, we continue to pray for everyone’s safety, and that this season of hope and promise renew and restore us all. May Jesus’ birth fill your hearts and homes with peace, joy and love this Christmas.
