Weekly Update – November 8 – 12 2021

Greetings Holy Rosary Families!

We had an excellent week – as we learned about Treaty Recognition Week and honoured Indigenous Peoples Awareness Month, we exceeded our WE Scare Hunger Food donation goal and we raised over $6500.00 for our school through our Annual Dance-a-thon Fundraiser!  Thank you all for your willingness and support as we grow, learn, pray and share each day!

WE Scare Hunger Success

Thank you so much for your support of our WE Scare Hunger Food Drive. We exceeded our goal and received over 920 items.  As a thank you to our generous community, the students have earned a non-uniform day on Friday, November 12, 2021.  Students are invited to wear school appropriate attire that is a ‘thank you’ for being wonderfully YOU!  Thank you to our Faithful Fury for their leadership.

The #NoHateInHalton Campaign

The #NoHateInHalton will be launched on Monday, November 8th in schools across the Halton Region. This is a community campaign that was developed by our Halton Regional Police Services in cooperation with the School Districts throughout our Region. We will be promoting this during our daily announcements, sharing the message that we believe that there should be #NoHateInHalton and that Halton region is diverse and that is what makes it beautiful and vibrant.

Remembrance Day Liturgy

On Thursday November 11, 2021, we will participate in a Remembrance Day Liturgy. All students will have an opportunity to wear a poppy on that day – donations are welcomed for the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. Thank you to the Grade 8 students for preparing the liturgy – which will be both virtual and in-person.

Student Photo Proofs

This week individual student photo proofs went home.  After a long wait, it was nice to see those picture perfect smiles again!   For anyone who missed Picture Day, or is considering retakes, we will advise of the date once it is confirmed.

The Grade 8 AP Information Night for Assumption Secondary School is scheduled for November 10, 2021 at 7:00 pm.  This information session requires pre-registration.  Please visit:

Dress for the Weather

As winter weather in upon us, we kindly request that parents ensure your child is dressed each day to play outside at recess. Students are able to be outside for all regular outside activities when it is warmer than -15 C. When temperatures range between -15C to -20C, students may remain outside for no longer than 20-minute intervals, once temperatures are colder than -20C students must remain inside. Thank you for your support.

Progress Reports and Parent/Teacher Interviews

“We know that parents have an important role to play in supporting student learning. Studies show that students perform better in school if their parents or guardians are involved in their education. This is the basis for the principle that students and parents should be kept fully informed about the student’s progress.” ~ Growing Success, page 8.

Progress Reports will be available on Wednesday November 24th, 2021. We will be holding Parent-Teacher Interviews/Conferences for Kindergarten to Grade 8 students virtually, during the evening of Thursday November 25, 2021, and during the day on Friday November 26, 2021.  More information on booking your interview will be sent home to families in a School Messenger email.

11th Annual HCCF Evening with Bishop Crosby – Virtual Edition

Wed. Nov. 17, 2021 – Reception at 6:30pm; Main Event at 7:00-8:30pm

The Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation (HCCF) supports HCDSB students in need with basic necessities (i.e. food and clothing) & with school activities that have a fee (i.e. team or club fees).

“With this funding the foundation has gratefully reduced the stress impacting the family and helped to ensure access to basic needs.” – HCDSB Social Worker

HCCF needs our help so they can continue to say “yes” to helping HCDSB students with financial barriers to learning.

They are looking for companies to be a sponsor at the event and for community members to purchase tickets and to donate.

It is NOT another Zoom call. We are using so you can have fun and interact with your friends. Enjoy a meal and your favourite beverage while you catch up with others.

Join the Halton Catholic Community for an entertaining experience where you can connect with your friends and hear Bishop Crosby’s stories, sense of humour and wisdom.
