Weekly Update – October 12 – 12-15 2021

Greetings Holy Rosary Families!

Today we celebrated the Feast of our Lady of the Holy Rosary – our Patron, with a virtual liturgy and prayers.  Our Lady of the Rosary Feast Day is a day of devotion, and we honour Our Lady’s role in the life of our Lord.

Friday October 8 is a Faith Day for staff. Our hope is to renew our spirits and re-engage our communities after a long season of virtual and remote learning.  There is no school for students on Friday October 8, 2021.

Monday October 11 is the Thanksgiving Holiday. There is no school on Thanksgiving Day. We wish all our families a blessed Thanksgiving long weekend.

Haitian Earthquake Relief

Our wonderful Faithful Fury – Grade 8 Social Justice Crew has embarked on a new mission. They are encouraging all families to donate basic     over-the-counter/non-prescription medical supplies for earthquake victims in Haiti. A Holy Rosary parishioner will be visiting Haiti for missionary work and will be bringing these much-needed items for families in Haiti. We would love to support this mission by collecting items such as: Tylenol Chewables for children, over-the-counter baby cough and cold medicine, baby creams like Penaten or Zincofax, triple antibiotic creams like Polysporin, Pepto Bismol chewables, and anti-fungal creams for adults. Our Grade 8’s will be collecting items at school from Tuesday, October 12 until Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Thank you for your generosity and support of this initiative.

School Picture Day – Friday, October 15th

Good news! Our school photograph day through Edge Imagining is schedule for Friday, October 15, 2021. We are thrilled to be back on track for school photos. Students will receive a proof package later in month and all photo orders will be on-line. Bring us your best smiles next Friday!

Daily Screening – Keeping Our Community Safe

Parents often call seeking advice on whether they should send their children to school if the children are unwell. If your children are unwell, (even if they do not exhibit specific Covid-related symptoms) they should not come to school.  We want your children to feel better and be able to fully engage in the learning, and to keep their classmates healthy too. The best way to determine if your children should be at school is to complete the daily required screening.

For the safety and well-being of all students and staff, parents/guardians must perform daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE leaving for school using the COVID-19 Self-Assessment.

The Government of Ontario daily self-screening tool can be accessed here: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/

For everyone’s safety and wellness, students should not attend school if they feel unwell.

Family Information/Consent Form – Action Required

A friendly reminder that this year we will be collecting this information electronically and parents/guardians are to complete the form online.

Parents are asked to complete the form, which may be accessed HERE.   The form should take you no longer than 10 minutes to complete.

We are now in the month of October! Parents, if you have not already completed the forms package online, it is now most important that you take a few minutes to complete the electronic consent forms for each child. Your directive input will enable the information to be uploaded and maintained for your child(ren’s) safety. Thank you to those who have already completed these forms.

Important Information before Completing the Form:

  • If you have more than one child enrolled in an HCDSB school, please complete a separate form for each child.
  • Only one parent/guardian is required to complete a form for each child.
  • You will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to submit this form. The OEN can be found on a recent report card.
  • Please ensure you are submitting your child’s preferred name or the name you provided at registration.
  • The form can be completed using a computer, smart phone, or tablet.

Student Support of the HCCF

We will be selling one-of-a-kind bracelets created by Lauren, a grade 5 student, in support of the HCCF.  Bracelets will be sold next week, during the lunch hour, for $ 5.00 each, with proceeds going to the Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation. We thank Lauren for her spirit of generosity and creating these beautiful bracelets.

Friendly Reminders:

Parking Lot/Kiss and Ride – kindly use the parking lot if you need to exit the car to escort your child to the gate, or if your child needs more time to exit your car – ‘Kiss and Ride’ should be reserved for a happy send-off and a quick and safe drop off. Thank you!

“Calling all Library Books”! If you find any school resources, texts, or library books at home …kindly return them to the school. We are missing many our library books and we would like to keep the joy of reading alive with our book exchange this year! Thank you!

Coming to School Prepared: Students are reminded to share in the responsibility to come to school prepared with all their belongings, including their lunch, snack and water bottle each day. Thank you!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Blessings,

The Holy Rosary CES Staff
