Safe Arrival Attendance Program
As you know, our school is using an automated student attendance management system called SafeArrival. The SafeArrival system is available 24/7, allowing you to report your child’s absence in one of three ways:
- using the SchoolMessenger® mobile app
- by logging into the SchoolMessenger® web site
- by calling into an interactive toll-free phone line 1-844-445-4505
We strongly encourage you to use any of these methods to report your child’s absence. Your notice will automatically record the absence for school notification.
You MUST enter the reason for absence.
If you do not enter a reason, the Safe Arrival program will sent you a reminder, either by email or phone. Please DO NOT ignore these return notifications. The program will continue to contact you every 20 minutes until you enter a reason for the absence.
DO NOT respond by the REMIND app that some teachers are using.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Education Week will be celebrated the week of May 6-10, 2019.
This year’s theme is “Living as Joyful Disciples”. As always we will be inviting parents into the school to visit classrooms, participate in our liturgies, and walk with us on our school wide Walk with Jesus. We are excited to share with you that the staff and students of Holy Rosary Catholic School will continue to showcase the arts during our annual Lasagna Night (Thursday, May 9th). Students have been working hard to create exceptional pieces of art work for our Student Art Gallery. Our calendar of events was sent out via email last week. The link is included below. Lasagna Night order forms have been posted on School Cash Online for your optional purchase. Deadline for purchase is Friday, May 4th at midnight. We look forward to seeing our families during this week.

Looking Ahead-2019/2020 Student Class Placement
Although we are only in April, preparations are now being made to ensure that our school is organized for the 2019/2020 school year. In preparation for this, teachers will be working hard on student class placements in the coming months. As you can appreciate, many hours of meetings and consultations go into the class building process to ensure the appropriate placement of all students. When building a class teachers look at the following criteria to develop heterogeneous groupings:
- Balance of ability (academic skills)
- Balance according to gender
- Learning style (how the learner learns)
- Teaching style (how the teacher teaches)
- Social blending (who gets along with whom)
- Parental input (re: learning style of student only)
Please note that parental input is important to us but must be weighted with the other criteria. Staff has already begun to receive requests from parents regarding their child’s teacher next year. Specific teacher requests cannot be considered. Rather, if necessary, parental input, in the form of a letter to the Principal should focus on the learning style of the student and the type of environment he/she best learns in. Letters should be submitted to Mrs. Choma no later than Monday, April 29th, 2019.
Remember, once again, that as a staff many discussions and reflections are put into the class building process. We will have over 420 students in September. We do our very best to develop classes that will be formed in order to maximize opportunities for each child to learn and be successful! Your trust in our professional judgment is appreciated!
