Mandatory Screening for Students

Parents and guardians are asked to complete the COVID-19 School Screening Tool for each child every day before leaving home for school.

Confirmation of the daily screening must be provided to the classroom teacher before school in one of the following formats: 

  • Email results to Homeroom teacher – teacher emails are listed on our school website
  • Show “pass” confirmation on a personal device;
  • Show printed copy of the screening tool indicating the current date and a “pass” 
  • Print off and Complete Confirmation of Daily COVID-19 Student Screening Log, which your child brings back and forth to school each day.

COVID-19 School and Childcare Screening Tool Summary

Students with one or more of the symptoms from the list below are now presumed to have a COVID-19 infection, MAY NOT ATTEND SCHOOL and must self-isolate as per the direction of the COVID-19 School/Childcare Screening Tool:

  • Fever and/or chills; OR
  • Cough; OR
  • Shortness of breath; OR
  • Decrease or loss of taste or smell

Any student with one of the symptoms from the list below MAY NOT ATTEND SCHOOL until it has been at least 24 hours since the symptoms started improving (48 hours for nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea) and as long as they do not develop any additional symptoms.

  • Runny nose / nasal congestion
  • Headache
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Sore throat
  • Muscle aches / joint pain
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms (i.e. vomiting or diarrhea)

Return of Technology/Device

If your family borrowed a device from the school, you may return it with your child. We ask students to return the borrowed device to our front door area. We will have tables set up for the return, families can also make their own drop off arrangements by calling the main office. We hope to have all devices returned to Holy Cross by the end of the week so that we can redistribute them to our classes.

Winter Weather

The winter weather has arrived! Students are reminded to please dress for all winter conditions. Students should have hats, gloves, and boots to enjoy the outdoors.  All students need winter boots to access our field area, Gr. 1-3 students will also require snow pants. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Family Paint night – Grandmother Moon

Join Indigenous Artist Moses Lunham for a night of painting on Tuesday, January 18th from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Moses will provide a step by step instructions and explanations on the importance of the Grandmother Moon. To join visit: https://www.youtube.com/c/GrandmothersVoice/featured

Pizza Day

Our Term 2 Pizza Day will resume on Tuesday, January 18th. Pizza orders will run every Tuesday until March 29th. We will add 2 additional dates to this period to make up for past cancelled dates. Our last pizza day for term 2 will be April 12.

Advanced New Registrations for 2022-2023 School Year

We encourage all families intending to register new children at Holy Cross School for September (including Kindergarten registrations) to please follow the guidelines posted on the front page of our website: New Registrations 2022-23 School Year. Online registrations are now open. Once you’ve registered online, the office will contact you for further instructions to complete your registration.
