“The righteous man walks with integrity; blessed are his children after him.” ~ Proverbs 20:7
On Father’s Day, we take time to acknowledge and thank all men who have positively impacted the life of a child by sharing their love, gifts, and talents. Happy Father’s Day to all our Holy Cross Fathers, Grandfathers, and father figures!
Grade 8 Graduation – Monday, June 21st!
We will be celebrating and acknowledging our Grade 8 Graduates with a drive-through Graduation ceremony on Monday, June 21st. All Grade 8 families have been sent an email (June 8th) with the specific time for their graduate to arrive at our school on this day. Guests are limited to immediate family members only (parents/guardians, siblings). We are unable to accommodate any visits from extended family or friends, on or near school property, even from a distance. Your adherence to this public health measure is appreciated. Please connect with us if you have any questions.
We know that our students deserve special recognition for this academic milestone. Thank you for your understanding as we try, as best we can, to honour the completion of our Grade 8 students’ elementary school education at Holy Cross. Please keep our graduates in your prayers as we will celebrate them this week!
Report Cards go home — Wednesday, June 23rd
Once again, in light of Health & Safety protocols due to COVID-19, all student report cards will be delivered electronically. Elementary Term 2 Report Cards will be emailed directly to parents and guardians on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress with his/her teacher, please reach out to the school to arrange a time.
A gentle reminder that to access your child’s report card, you will need their OEN number, which can be found at the top of the February Report Card or the November Progress Report. Please note that this is not the same as their Student number, which is used for Cash-on-line.
Last day of Synchronous (Live) lessons — Friday, June 25th.
Synchronous learning (live lessons) will end on Friday, June 25th. Asynchronous material will be posted for Monday, June 28th and Tuesday, June 29th for all students by classroom teachers. Staff will be completing end of year tasks to close out the school year.
We thank our parent community for your continued support and patience as we near the end of remote learning. We commend the staff who have continued to strive to deliver quality programming, engaging students with guest speakers, virtual trips, interesting tech tools, and exciting activities right to the last week of school. Holy Cross achievements continue, even given the challenging circumstances:
- Mr. Sutton’s Junior class received a letter from The Honourable Greg Rickford, Minister of Indigenous Affairs, in response to their persuasive letters of support for Indigenous communities!
- Mrs. Capostagno, Ms. Primeau and Mr. Toye ensured that our Intermediate students still participated in the University of Waterloo Gauss Math contest – this time, in a virtual format. Congratulations to Amelia W., Jessica W., Thomas M., and Daniela M. who achieved the highest scores!
- Nolan F.’s writing was honoured by the OECTA Young Authors Contest!
These are just a few of the most recent successes to highlight. Above all, we are so proud of our students for their diligent efforts throughout this journey. Even a pandemic can’t hold back Crusaders from striving for excellence!
Once again, we will be arranging for a “curbside pick-up/drop off” to allow families to return all borrowed tech devices/textbooks, and to retrieve any personal belongings that may have been left in the school during the school closure period. This curbside approach will maintain public health guidelines for physical distancing and allow for the orderly return of items.
To accommodate various requests, families may come to the school anytime between
- 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25th
- 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Monday June 28th
- 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday June 29th
to pick up personal items and to drop off school items. Please note that all devices will need to be returned by Tuesday, June 29th unless students are enrolled in a summer learning program and they require the device for learning.
