Class Lists

Our school class lists have been posted.  Please go to the HCDSB website, click on schools and select Holy Cross.  Please visit:

  1. Click on Schools tab- School Listing
  2. Choose Holy Cross School
  3. Click on Class Placements
  4. Enter the OEN # and click search

You will need to have your child’s OEN number (found on their report card) to access this information. For new JK and SK families, your child’s placement will be shared when you come in for your interview with the teaching team.

Nearly 20% of our Holy Cross students have opted to begin the school year learning online. The Board Motion to Lower Elementary Class Sizes led to a variety of changes and a restructuring of several classes. As per Director Daly’s email, due to the timing and complexity of the process this year, we will not be able to accommodate any requests for changes to class placements. A respectful reminder to parents that your reaction to your child’s placement sets the tone for their re-entry and for establishing a positive relationship with their teacher.

Staffing updates

Holy Cross is pleased to welcome back many familiar faces, and some new ones too!

Mrs. Moore returns to us in Grade 1, Mrs. Massari to Kindergarten and Mrs. D’Emilio, to Kindergarten.  Mr. Toye joins the staff as our Grade 7 LTO teacher.  Mrs. MacDonald joins the Special Education department as SERT, while Mrs. Longo and M. Logar round out the PTM and FSL departments, respectively.  We are fortunate to have such a great team at Holy Cross!

What will the first few days look like?

Holy Cross, like every school in the HCDSB, is working to implement the directives and recommendations in the HCDSB Return to School Plan, which, of course, was shaped by direction from Public Health.  To that end, some changes to our routines have been planned.  Practices that may have worked or been accepted in the past will need to adapt.  Adjusting to these new routines will take some time and training for staff, students, and parents.  Further, plans that are prepared before the arrival of students may require tweaking, once they are played out in “real time”.  It is imperative that we work together, as partners, to achieve the common goal of safety for all.   Patience, collaboration and mutual support are essential now more than ever.

Please review the following plan, which is specific to our school site: Holy Cross Implementation of Return to School Plan

We cannot guarantee that we will not have a case of COVID-19 in our school; we can never be sure that a student or staff member won’t bring it to school. But we can and will do everything in our power to limit its spread through Infection Control and Prevention strategies including:

  1. daily screening for every student, staff member and visitor
  2. proper hand hygiene
  3. respiratory etiquette including the use of face masks for all staff and students while indoors except when eating
  4. physical distancing measures
  5. working closely with our Halton Public Health Unit

Through this difficult period, we have had the opportunity to reflect on what is most important in our daily lives.  Despite the challenges, there have also been many blessings for us and our families that we are thankful for.  Returning to school for children and staff is one such blessing.  School provides the environment for children to grow spiritually, socially, and academically and we thank you for trusting us and having faith in us that we can do this together.

Family Consent Forms

A September package will be coming home with your child on the first day of school as per usual. These packages include important information, consent forms for your child to participate in our Physical Education program, Family Consent Forms, and Student Verification Forms. Please read, sign, and return these forms to the classroom teachers by Friday, September 18th.

On behalf of the Holy Cross staff we wish you every blessing for a wonderful school year filled with new discoveries and the joy of praying, learning and serving one another in Jesus’ name.
