Our Grade 7 students are changing the world, one climate change initiative at a time!
After watching 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg’s speech to Swedish parliament, Ms. Kelly’s students were inspired to make a change in their community. This is when they started Fridays for Future Milton, where they take time out of their nutrition breaks each Friday to reduce their ecological footprint.
Some Friday activities include collecting green bins from each classroom, and picking up litter around the school. On the weekends, the students also arrange ‘Meet Up Clean Ups’ around the Milton community.
Their efforts garnered media attention after student Rizkallah Botros spoke about Fridays for Future Milton to the Town of Milton Council this past summer. Students were interviewed by radio station 101.3 Milton Now, and their feature aired last week!
Congratulations to all members of Fridays for Future Milton for your great work in the community!
